Sarah Martinez, MS, LCPC

Sarah Martinez is a native Californian who has called Bozeman home for the past 10 years. Sarah understands that every person has a unique life experience and strives to utilize cultural sensitivity with all clients from varying backgrounds; tailoring the counseling experience for each client. She holds a graduate degree from Montana State University in Marriage and Family counseling and utilizes the evidence-based modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy in working with her individual and couple clients.
Sarah believes that counseling is a collaborative process and works to empower clients to create goals that represent the changes they would like to see in their life. Counseling can be a difficult process and she believes that through the power of the therapeutic relationship, lasting change can be achieved. Open and transparent communication and a willingness to work hard are critical components in the counseling process.
Prior to her counseling career, Sarah worked as a military and veteran caregiver advocate in private sectors and on Capitol Hill; diligently working to enact positive change. She has been a caregiver herself for 12+ years and understands the unique challenges faced by those who care for others. When she’s not counseling, Sarah spends lots of time with her husband and two kids swimming, camping, and laughing. Sarah also thoroughly enjoys cooking, dogs, playing cards, and tending to her many houseplants.
